Holbox Real Estate
The weird name represents a wonderful Caribbean Island in the north of Quintana Roo. This Mayan name is made of two words as Hol, which means empty and Box stands for space. Isla Holbox was settled by pirates who intermarried with local Mayans living in the area.
Holbox has everything to offer when a visitor is looking to find peace and relax. Especially eco tourism stands high and offers great service. One of the main atractions on Holbox is the yearly swim with the whale shark that for one or another reason gather there from July till September.
Isla Holbox is part of the protected eco-reserve Yum Balam. About 2000 residents live here. You need a ferry boat or a local fishermen's transportation to reach the Island.
The Northern shore (facing the calm waters of the warm Gulf of Mexico) has become a true ‘hideout’ for Europeans, Canadians & Americans looking to enjoy the beautiful waters and beaches of Mexico without going near the likes of the hotels of Cancun
All transportation on the island is by golf carts, motorbikes or bicycles.
Sports like windsurfing and kiteboarding have found many fans and is therefore visited throughout the year.
There is no bank no dentist, no ATM machine, no cinema, library or supermarket or anything that reminds you of a so calle modern society... A doctor of the municipality is there most of the times and working many times around the clock.
According to the latest news Holbox will receive 3 million pesos for the construction of thei Casa De Cultura which is a nice step forwards on Holbox.
Real estate here is very interesting and has very good opportunities on big scale and smaller scale.
